On 20 June 2011 United States Treasurer Rosie Rios, American Representative Jerrold Nadler and 9/11 Memorial President Joe Daniels unveiled September 11 National silver medal during a special ceremony at the site for a preview of the monument on 9/11 in lower Manhattan. The United States Mint released a commemorative silver medal to the public at noon Eastern time the same day.

11 September National Medal
National Medal marked the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of 11 September 2001 and will help to raise funds for the Memorial and Museum at the site of the World Trade Center.
Up to two million medals were authorized in u.s. Senator Charles Schumer and Nadler legislation, national September 11 Memorial and Museum Commemorative Medal Act 2010 which has been law signed by President Obama in August (public law 111-221).
Each national medal struck in proof quality and contain one ounce of silver. Approximately half of the medals will be produced in the United States Mint facility in Philadelphia and the other will be presented in the United States Mint at West point. The yard signs are on the reverse side.
United States Mint medal sells for $ 56.95 during the introductory period and there is no ordering constraints.

The United States Mint released medals for sale to the public at noon, Eastern time (and) today.
Rios and Nadler presented shadowbox containing Medal of Joe Daniels, President and CEO of the national September 11 Memorial and Museum, of which also participated in the event. Medal is authorized by the national September 11 Memorial and Museum Commemorative Medal Act of 2010 (public law 111-221).
"Medal, the vision of the American public today was created by the United States Mint in the event of 11 September 2001-a day that changed our nation and the world forever," said Rios.
"This medal design is intended to exalt the memory of those who are the world sacrificed their lives or were wounded, as well as families who continue to show strength and dignity in the face of terrible loss."
Striking the United States Mint and is available for sale to the public one ounce silver medal in honor of the tenth anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks in the United States and the creation of the national September 11 Memorial and Museum in the World Trade Center. The Bureau should hit two million medals in proof quality.
Medal symbol (chapters) include Lady Liberty holding a lamp remembrance. Behind it are beacons of light stretching skyward. Freedom, the lamp and the light symbolized not only immeasurable loss of the fateful day, but also the resiliency and the triumph of constancy. The captions are always and the 2001-2011.
On the reverse (tails side) project is a Eagle, simvolizirasa to the strength of the survivors, families and the nation, in the context of the cascading water. Flowing water is emblematic of the peace, relaxation, healing and the continuity of life. The inscriptions are HONOR and hope.
2011 11 September National Medal is available for purchase in the United States Mint secure website, www.usmint.gov/catalog, 1-800-USA-MINT (872-6468), and in the 1-888-321-MINT (6468), the United States Mint telephone ordering line for hearing and speech impaired customers with TTY equipment.
Introductory sale price of $ 56.95 is in force during the August 18, 2011 in 5 hours and, when the regular price of $ 66.95 each shall enter into force.
$ 10 Fee collected from the sale of each Medal is entitled to be paid to the national September 11 Memorial and Museum, a private organization not for profit, the supervision of the design and funding of the Memorial and Museum at the site of the World Trade Center. The funds will support the operations and maintenance of the Museum after it is completed. Orders for the medal is expected to begin shipping on September 1.
The United States Mint, created by Congress in 1792, is the only producer of legal tender coinage of the nation and is responsible for the production of circulating coinage for the nation to conduct its trade and commerce.
